Correspondence and other documents relating to his congressional service. Much of the collection consists of correspondence with constituents who sought the assistance of Congressman Mize in dealing with various government agencies. Many people also wrote to express their views regarding pending legislation on a wide range of local, state, and national problems. In addition to correspondence with constituents and various government officials, the collection contains printed versions of many bills, copies of newsletters & press releases, and other miscellaneous documents produced or received by the Congressman's office. Subjects include the House Committee on Banking and Currency, the Kansas Republican Party, agriculture, civil rights, conservation, farmers, flood control, Kansas Indian reservations & military bases, the Vietnam War, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library (Abilene, Kan.), Kansas State University (Manhattan), the U.S. Office of Equal Opportunity, oil refineries, the Kansas Republican State Committee, the University of Kansas (Lawrence), St. Benedict's College (now part of Benedictine College) (Atchison, Kan.), water pollution, and Kansas politics. There is no material in the collection dealing with Mize's personal or business affairs.
